Mumbai, June 8: In a groundbreaking development, Kuaishou Technology, a leading Chinese short video platform, has launched a groundbreaking text-to-video conversion model called “Kling”. This strategic move by Kuaishou aims to rival OpenAI's Sora model, which is expected to revolutionize AI-powered video generation. Demonstrated in a series of impressive demo videos, Kling's capabilities have already sparked excitement among AI enthusiasts.
Released on Thursday, June 6, Kling will reportedly be accessible by invitation only through Kuaishou's Kuaiying app. South China Morning PostThe model has already impressed AI enthusiasts, who have shared their creations online, demonstrating Kling's ability to generate videos with lifelike physical properties. Employing similar technology as Sora, the report claims that Kling can generate 1080p high-definition videos up to two minutes long, exhibiting large-scale, lifelike movements and simulating properties of the physical world. OpenAI Sora has been released with the ability to generate one-minute realistic videos from text (see example video).
This release follows OpenAI's Sora, which, while not yet publicly available, set a high bar with a one-minute high-definition video. Kling uses an innovative Diffusion Transformer architecture to transform text prompts into an immersive visual experience. The model uses advanced 3D facial and body reconstruction technology supported by Kuaishou's proprietary 3D VAE, allowing users to create videos with lifelike movements that simulate real-world physics. OpenAI Sora Release: OpenAI's AI video generator is expected to be generally available in 2024, CTO Mira Murati announced.
Kuaishou demonstrated Kling's capabilities in a demo video, highlighting that its advanced video creation capabilities surpass Sora's current product. With OpenAI preparing to launch its own Sora model later this year, the gap between the two companies may already be widening. However, one thing that could stand in the way of Kling's global rise is China's reluctance to open up its cutting-edge technology to the world.
