Elon Musk’s AI company xAI has released a preview of its new image-to-video model, Grok Imagine Video 1.5. This model converts a single still image into a short video with up to 720p resolution. According to xAI, the user describes camera movement, pace, and mood through text prompts, and the model animates the scene while preserving the original image’s details and lighting. You can also stitch multiple shots together into long scenes and maintain a consistent look.
This model is currently available as a preview through the xAI API and can be set up with just a few lines of code. xAI currently competes directly with video AI providers such as Seedance and Google’s Veo. OpenAI recently retired its Sora video model, citing resource constraints and a potentially lacking business model.
