The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) has made many aspects of our lives more efficient and easier to navigate. One of his latest AI-based technologies is his ChatGPT, a user-friendly chatbot. This is growing in popularity due to its many uses, including in the educational field.

ChatGPT uses algorithms to generate human-like text within seconds. Used correctly and responsibly, it can be used to answer questions, get information, write essays, summarize documents, and create code. More to the point, ChatGPT has the potential to dramatically change education by creating a virtual tutor, providing personalized learning and improving her AI literacy for teachers and students.

However, ChatGPT and other AI-based technologies that can create content in the education sector should be approached with caution.

Recently, a research team including Dr. Weipeng Yang, assistant professor at the Hong Kong University of Education and Ms. Su Jiahong from the University of Hong Kong proposed a theoretical framework known as “IDEE” to guide the use of AI in education (also known as “educational AI”). called).

A real-world application of ChatGPT requires significant investment in hardware, software, maintenance and support, which may not be affordable for many educational institutions.

In fact, unregulated use of ChatGPT can lead students to access inaccurate or dangerous information. ChatGPT can also be used fraudulently to gather sensitive information about students without their knowledge or consent. Unfortunately, an AI model is only as good as the data used to train it. Therefore, low-quality data that are not representative of all student cohorts can produce false, unreliable, and discriminatory AI responses.

ChatGPT and other educational AI are still emerging technologies, so more research is needed to understand their effectiveness in education. The researchers therefore provide recommendations for future opportunities related to educational AI. There is a desperate need for more contextualized research on the use of AI in different educational settings. Second, the ethical and social implications of educational AI need to be thoroughly investigated.

Third, the integration of AI into educational practice should involve teachers who undergo regular training in the use of generative AI.
