Local businesses are building the skills and confidence to use AI after a workshop at Club Five Dock RSL on Wednesday 29 April aimed at making emerging technology more accessible.
In this session, Dr. Isaac Donnelly, General Manager of Intelligent Contact at Optus, spoke and provided a primer on understanding AI.
This workshop explored how tools like ChatGPT work, why they can sometimes be unreliable, and how businesses can use them effectively. Participants also learned how to combine multiple AI tools, understand their limitations, and apply them to real-world business situations.
Canada Bay Mayor Michael Meghna said the workshop reflects City Council’s continued commitment to supporting local businesses to innovate and grow.
“Our local businesses are the backbone of a strong and resilient Canada Bay city,” said Mayor Meghna.
“This workshop aims to provide business owners with the skills and knowledge to help them understand how AI works and how they can leverage it to improve their operations and stay competitive.”
Mayor Meghna said events like this are designed to help local businesses feel supported as new technology continues to evolve.
“We know that AI can feel complicated or even overwhelming, especially for small and medium-sized businesses,” he says.
“That’s why it’s so important to offer opportunities like this where companies can hear directly from industry experts, ask questions and build confidence in a collaborative environment.”
This workshop is part of a series of business events aimed at strengthening and supporting the local business community.
