Lane and Horn honor high performers at awards ceremony
Real estate company Raine & Horne celebrated its biggest achievers at the 2025 South Australian Excellence Awards held at SkyCity Adelaide.
Raine and Horne’s Strathalbyn office was one of the standout offices at the ceremony, winning the Top Office for Sales GCI and Top Rural Office Largest Sale/Auction awards.
The office’s principal, Nick Grosvenor, also secured the top principal in both sales GCI and number of sales transactions categories.
The Murraylands office was also successful, winning top office for number of sales transactions and Michael Cox was awarded top salesperson for both sales GCI and number of sales transactions for the residential sales division.
“These awards recognize the outstanding professionalism, hard work and results delivered by our South Australian office and its teams,” said Angus Laing, Laing & Horne Executive Chairman.
AML3D announces groundbreaking military order
AML3D has announced its largest order to date, with U.S. military shipyard Newport News Shipbuilding placing an order for four custom ARCEMY X industrial metal 3D printing systems.
Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, the largest military shipbuilder in the United States, will use the ARCEMY X system for a variety of shipbuilding applications, including manufacturing and replacing marine components.
The contract, valued at $9.9 million, will bring the number of ARCEMY X systems at Newport News Shipyard to six when the order is completed.
“This step change in the size and value of the HII ARCEMY order is highly reflective of the strong and growing demand signals that support AML3D’s continued expansion into the U.S. defense market,” said AML3D CEO Sean Evert.
University of Adelaide strengthens sovereign AI capabilities
The University of Adelaide has launched a partnership with American technology conglomerate Cisco to advance research and education in sovereign AI and cybersecurity.
The university said the partnership will strengthen the University of Adelaide’s position as a global leader in AI research by incorporating industry-leading insights and knowledge in network technology, data and cybersecurity into its degree programs.
We will also explore co-developing a security simulation called Cisco Cyber Range to help security teams identify and defend against cyber threats.
University of Adelaide Vice-Chancellor Professor Nicola Phillips said: “This agreement not only fosters important research in AI cybersecurity, but also ensures that the research and research undertaken by University of Adelaide students and staff is well aligned with Australia’s national priorities.”
SA company wins big prize at National Development Awards
The SA company has won the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) National Award of Excellence.
The award, presented at a gala dinner in Adelaide, recognized UDIA members’ “exemplary work” in delivering complex development projects and building connected communities.
South Carolina real estate developer Peet received top honors in the Project of the Year award for its Fort Largs 200 Residential Residential Community project, which also earned the company the Best Master Planned Community award.
Madeleine Steele, associate director at Hames Shirley, also received the Young Leader Award.
UDIA National Chairman Oscar Stanley said: “We are delighted to be able to celebrate such great achievements from across our member countries, including projects that highlight the strength of Australia’s urban development industry.”
Market Square development reaches high point
The 40-storey residential and hotel tower development at Market Square has reached a major milestone, with construction reaching its climax.
The $600 million development’s top price marks significant progress towards the delivery of 234 apartments, over 11,000 square meters of retail and dining space and a 248-room treehouse hotel.
The project was delivered by Melbourne developer ICD Properties and the City of Adelaide, and completion was celebrated with a cement handprint from Premier Peter Malinauskas and Mayor Jane Lomax-Smith.
“Projects like this create jobs, bring people back to the CBD and help ensure our city continues to evolve as one of the best places to live in the country,” Mr Malinauskas said.
Adelaide wins World Airport Awards
Adelaide Airport has won Best Airport Staff in Australia and the Pacific and Best Regional Airport in Australia and the Pacific at the Skytrax World Airport Awards.
The Skytrax World Airport Awards are based on surveys from the World Airport Survey, which surveys airport customers across the entire spectrum of airport services, from check-in, shopping, security and immigration to key performance indicators.
This is the first time Adelaide Airport has won the Best Airport Staff award, beating Australian airports in Brisbane and Melbourne, and the fourth time in the past five years that it has won the Best Regional Airport award.
Adelaide Airport Managing Director Brenton Cox said: “This award recognizes the excellent work of the entire airport team, from our customer service staff, including our volunteer ambassadors, to airline staff, retailers, cleaners, trolley drivers and security.”
