NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday sought to avert a crisis in the Sandeshkari case while staring down the controversy. Local leaders in the case claimed that artificial intelligence was used to defame Sandeshkari.
BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said money was exchanged for the production of the video.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has been making headlines on the issue ahead of the Indian Parliament polls, with local leader Gangadhar Koyal claiming in a video that it was on the orders of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suvendu Adhikari. After being shown an alleged sting operation, he realized he was in a sticky situation. Allegations of violence and sexual abuse have been made against ousted TMC stoneman Sheikh Shahjahan.
In the video, Koyal, the Bharatiya Janata Party's mandal (booth) president, says that women in Sandeshkhali state have not been sexually assaulted but are projecting them as rape victims on the instructions of opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari. I can also hear you saying that it happened.
In Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party's poll campaign revolved around the narrative that the TMC would use violence to silence its opponents. The Bharatiya Janata Party was also facing difficulties after a woman came forward with sexual harassment allegations against Governor Ananda Bose.
On Sunday, Koyal claimed that it was not him in the video, but an AI imprint of him. “I came across a video in which I can be seen blaming (the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Sandesh Hari incident). The video has been created using my face and the audio has been modulated using artificial intelligence.” he said, further claiming that TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee was behind it.
BJP leader Dilip Ghosh also accused the TMC of fabricating the sting video. “People are being bought and sold and even sit or sit in Raj Bhawan in exchange for money. But this stabbing video makes no difference. It was the common people of Sandeshkhali, not the BJP. Shahjahan has admitted the charges… His henchmen even attacked the ED and CBI teams,” Ghosh said.
