Patna: Bihar will introduce artificial intelligence (AI) education in government schools in a move aimed at modernizing the education system and preparing students for future technology demands.
The state government has directed district education officials to implement the program for students from grades 6 to 12.
Officials said the initiative is based on a model developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and will be delivered through the Deeksha digital learning platform. The platform includes features such as video-based learning tools and read-aloud tools to support better comprehension and accessibility.
The Department of Education said the program, titled ‘Building AI-Ready Skills’, was designed in response to the rapidly expanding role of artificial intelligence across industries. Its aim is to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills necessary for a technology-driven world.
The curriculum includes topics such as machine learning, neural networks, responsible use of AI, and essential digital skills. Officials said the content was in line with international standards to enable students to compete at a global level.
To simplify learning, the course is divided into three modules: Understanding AI, Acquiring AI, and Aiming AI. Each module is 15 hours long and covers a wide range of topics from basic concepts to advanced areas such as generative AI, programming, cybersecurity, and career opportunities.
The government said the initiative is expected to strengthen students’ digital capabilities and open up new opportunities in the technology sector in the coming years.
