Renowned content creator and actor Bhuvan Bam He has become the latest target of AI deepfake technology. A deepfake video that recently went viral on social media falsely depicts Bhuvan Bam recommending tennis investments through predictions for certain bookmakers. Realizing the potentially harmful and misleading nature of the video, Bhuvan swiftly took action by filing a formal complaint with Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai. Authorities are currently investigating the matter.

Bhuvan Bam files police complaint over deepfake video

Following this incident, Bhuvan Bam stressed the importance of caution and informed his fans about deepfake videos circulating online. He asserted that the videos are completely fabricated and designed to trick viewers into making risky investments. Bhuvan responded by stressing the need to stay safe and avoid scammers, and urged his followers not to fall for such fake content.

Other celebrities who faced similar situations

The incident highlights the growing problem of deepfake videos that have affected many Indian celebrities. Previously, actors such as Radhika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif have expressed concern over the proliferation of deepfake videos. These cases serve as a wake-up call against misusing technology to spread misinformation and manipulate public opinion. Earlier this year, a deepfake video featuring Ranveer Singh was released in which Singh appeared to criticize the government and urge people to vote for justice in the Indian Lok Sabha elections. It was later revealed that the video had been doctored and manipulated. Following this incident, Mumbai Police acted swiftly and registered a case against the unidentified person responsible for the video.

For similar reasons, reports recently spread about a deepfake video of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan campaigning for a particular political party. Following this development, an FIR was filed with the Mumbai Police and Aamir Khan's spokesperson clarified that he has never supported any political party in his 35-year-long career. The spokesperson highlighted the fact that Aamir supports the Election Commission's public awareness campaigns.
