The talented staff at Rogue Ameba released a brand new version of their excellent Audio Hijack app last year. His sound capture software now has three new features thanks to machine learning on the Mac.

According to Rogue Amoeba, Audio Hijack 4.2 expands the app’s functionality by introducing “three powerful new blocks to adjust and improve the audio flowing through Audio Hijack.”
First of all, it is a speed noise removal function that utilizes machine learning. They describe it like this:

Next up is the new Parametric EQ block.
Experience unparalleled control over the sound of your audio with the new Parametric EQ. This powerful new effect lets you use multiple bands with fully customizable filter types, frequencies, Q, and gain to tune with surgical precision. The interface offers plenty of options for experimentation and makes precise audio adjustments fun.
Finally, the new FIR filter block will allow you to “recreate the atmosphere of a grand concert hall or a cozy studio room directly from your Mac.”

Other improvements include the ability to navigate to the global window via VoiceOver and improved VoiceOver navigation of the global menu itself. Likewise, we’ve made it easier to navigate sections of the block library, making it easier to access a set of elements throughout the app.
But that’s not all. Audio Hijack 4.2 updates existing blocks such as system audio, mixer, readout, EQ sparklines, and more. New blocks and updates to existing blocks are described in the updated Audio Hijack User Manual.
