Attract Wimbledon fans in real time with IBM Watsonx

AI For Business

New interactive AI assistant Matchchat answers real-time questions from fans during live single matches and post-match coverage. Can fans use pre-written prompts such as “What are the key factors in this match?” Alternatively, you can use natural language to come up with your own questions. Tyler Sidell, Technical Program Director for IBM's Sports and Entertainment Partnerships, said:

The second solution, Live Chaphelihood to Wine, uses AI projection to determine which players could win based on instantaneous data. Previous versions of this solution predicted winners heading into the match based on the season of a particular player and recent performance leading up to the championship, but the new expanded solution is “nearly real-time.” Top players understand that past results do not guarantee future victory. What really matters is your current form and your current performance. As elite talent moves, mental resilience and momentum can quickly change courses. A comeback is always possible, and matching points can disappear in an instant. The chances of winning live are updated as the match progresses, taking into account all these twists and turns, so “we see that momentum is shifting from player to player in a given match,” Sidell says.

These new fan features are part of the All England Club's broader goals to ensure an engaging fan experience on Wimbledon sites and apps, allowing them to grow the tennis community wider and around the world. From social sites to search engines, fans have plenty of options to keep them up to date with recent games.
