Rome, New York – US Air Force researchers are urging the industry to develop technologies for next-generation target tracking that utilize high-performance computing, many data sources, and leverage artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and machine inference algorithms.

Officials from the Air Force Institute Research Institute Intelligence Bureau, Rome, New York, issued the Solicitation of Advanced Tracking Architecture Using the AI (ATA-AI) Project (FA875024S7004). Companies are responding until November 2028.

The Air Force is looking for the industry for algorithms that include 3D pixels, vectors, and point cloud processing and acceleration. Use AI and machine learning to identify targets and learn about electromagnetic signature patterns. Process navigation and positioning data. Use mobile phones and personal fit devices to help first responders find victims in disaster areas.

The project will run until 2029, with a total of approximately $99 million. Many four-year contacts are worth between $1 million and $10 million each.
