AI for All Hackathon: Building comprehensive solutions for early warning and disaster recoveryan initiative that aims to harness the power of artificial intelligence to address disaster risk, climate change challenges, and sustainable development. Sponsored by African Youth Advisory Board for Disaster Risk Reduction (AYAB-DRR) – African Unionthe program is offered in collaboration with the following partners: Alf, Peri Peri U, european unionand other regional and international stakeholders.
The hackathon aims to provide participants with technical knowledge, practical experience, and mentorship while promoting innovative AI-powered solutions that strengthen disaster preparedness, early warning systems, and climate change resilience across the region.

About the AI for All hackathon
The AI for All Hackathon is a multi-stage innovation program that brings together young people from diverse backgrounds in technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, climate action, disaster prevention, and more. Participants will have access to expert-led training, collaborative innovation labs, and regional showcase opportunities aimed at turning creative ideas into impactful solutions.
The program aims to strengthen the region’s capacity to address disaster resilience challenges through emerging technologies by encouraging interdisciplinary teamwork and responsible AI development.
Program structure
The program is delivered in three comprehensive phases that take participants from basic learning to solution development and final presentation.
Phase I: Virtual Bootcamp
The program begins with an intensive virtual learning experience where participants receive technical and hands-on training from experienced facilitators and industry experts.
Training topics include:
- Responsible and inclusive artificial intelligence.
- Fundamentals of artificial intelligence.
- Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
- Early warning system.
- Earth observation and geospatial technology.
- Robotics and prototype development.
- UI/UX design.
- Application development.
- Design thinking and innovation.

- Professional networking.
The boot camp is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop innovative, comprehensive, and scalable AI solutions.
Phase II: Local Innovation Lab
After virtual training, participants will join multidisciplinary teams in regional innovation labs.
During this phase, participants will:
- Collaborate with colleagues from various fields.
- Receive guidance from technical experts and facilitators.
- Design and develop AI-powered prototypes.
- Refine innovative solutions to address disaster resilience challenges.
- Strengthen teamwork, leadership, and project development skills.
The Innovation Lab encourages participants to collaborate and problem-solve while supporting them to translate concepts into real-world applications.
Phase III: Regional Hackathons and Demo Days
In the final phase of the program, selected teams will be given the opportunity to showcase their completed solutions during regional hackathons and demo days.
Participating teams will present their projects before:
- Industry experts.

Demo sessions provide valuable information while creating opportunities for networking, collaboration, and potential future partnerships.
Eligibility criteria
This program is aimed at young innovators who meet the following requirements:
- come in between 18 and 35 years old of age.
- be a national or resident of country in north africa.
- Be available to participate throughout all phases of the program.
