LONDON, June 8, 2026 — AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) today announced a strategic partnership with Imperial College London to advance AI-enabled scientific discovery, sovereign AI infrastructure, and next-generation high-performance computing (HPC) systems in the UK.

By combining AMD’s expertise in accelerated computing and open software with Imperial’s world-class expertise in science, engineering and healthcare research and innovation, both organizations will explore new approaches to tackling some of the world’s most complex scientific problems.

The collaboration is expected to support advanced computational research across areas such as engineering design, multiphysics simulation, materials discovery, climate and Earth system modeling, neuroscience and brain imaging, epidemiology, biosecurity, genomics, and computational biology. AMD and Imperial will also explore opportunities to optimize AI models, scientific workflows, and data-intensive applications on AMD computing platforms and AMD ROCm™ open software.

“AI and high-speed computing are changing the way researchers solve complex problems and translate their discoveries into real-world impact,” said Dr. Lisa Su, CEO and Chairman of AMD. “By combining AMD’s leadership AI and HPC platform with Imperial’s globally recognized research and innovation ecosystem, we aim to help researchers tackle bigger challenges, develop the next generation of AI talent and drive an open, interoperable sovereign AI infrastructure in the UK.”

Lord Vallance, UK Science Secretary, said: “This partnership between AMD and Imperial will combine world-class computing and AI expertise with engineering and research to help tackle some of the toughest challenges we face, from healthcare to climate change. By supporting discovery, skills and innovation right here in the UK, we have the potential to improve lives, open new opportunities for students and researchers, and support business and job growth across the country.”

Beyond research, AMD and Imperial will collaborate on education, workforce development, and science-based innovation efforts across AI, HPC, accelerated computing, semiconductor technology, and engineering. The parties will explore opportunities to provide students, researchers, startups, and innovators with access to computing resources, software environments, and technical expertise through workshops, seminars, internships, pilot programs, and industry engagement. These activities will take place across Imperial’s WestTech London innovation ecosystem, including campuses in South Kensington, Paddington Life Sciences, White City Innovation District and Old Oak Innovation Cluster.

Hugh Brady, President of Imperial College London, said: “Imperial College London is committed to driving world-leading research and innovation that has real-world impact.” “Working with AMD creates new opportunities to expand access to advanced AI and accelerated computing infrastructure for researchers, students, and innovators across science, engineering, and healthcare.”

The partnership reflects AMD and Imperial’s shared commitment to strengthening sovereign AI capabilities, supporting an open and interoperable computing ecosystem, and contributing to the long-term growth and competitiveness of the UK’s AI and science innovation economy.
