If you are planning on traveling on the long weekend of July 4th, you are not alone. If you're like me, you really like road trips, but you don't like planning ahead. However, it is definitely a good idea to think ahead about the route so you can avoid the worst traffic and get a sense of what you see along the way.
Every road trip I took spontaneously got caught up in anxiety due to the details of the plan. My brain jumps on all the bad things that can happen while traveling right away, so why not plan a road trip in advance?
My friend sent me a list of various artificial intelligence tools that I used to make planning my trip easier. This list included Curiosio, an AI travel planning tool that provided maps, budgets and calculated travel lengths within seconds. My ears were energized by imagining its potential output speed. Between geeks, travel and beta modes, Curiosio edits quite a few tools that will help you navigate and decorate your vacation, no matter what adventure.
What I particularly enjoyed about Curiosio was that I focused on road trips rather than trying to become an all-in-one travel planner. The country-specific branding also includes hot air balloons decorated with national flags and typefaces reminiscent of Indiana Jones PC games. With so many sophisticated, but barren, high-tech brands on the market, I thought this gave the website a sweet touch.
How to Use Curiosio to Plan a Road Trip
Let's break down the three modes of Curiosio: Travel, Geek and Beta first.
Travel mode is for travelers or busy bodies that require a simplified real-time guide. Needless to say, I fall into this category. Here you can follow the itinerary with directions and contextual tips. This is perfect if you need help with handshakes.
There's also a nerd mode for detail-driven perfectionists who want to control every detail of their trip. Direct that Friends and partners will come to this mode, and they can place all the energy on Curiosio that you don't have. Here you can customize your routing, add filters, and use logic to make the most of your planning capabilities.
Beta mode is an innovative and experimental type that not only makes the novelty flourish, but also loves to dive into something newer than anyone else. Here you can access AI extensions (and bugs), but you can also try out new features. At the time of writing, Curiosio was developing memberships to focus on travel experiences.
This is how you use Curiosio's travel tools.
- Head to the website and enter your country.
- Once selected, go to the top and select trip To enter your starting point and desired destination for your road trip. Specify your date, duration, and budget preferences.
- Let AI do that and create a personalized road trip plan. Curiosio promises that this will not take more than 100 seconds. For reference, my plan was generated in about 35 seconds.
- Check the proposed route. My output generated four itineraries, ranging from budget and travel length. You can toggle a breakdown of all itineraries, including daily itineraries, hotels, budget allocations, and more.
- Add or remove destinations to get through it from scratch, or adjust your travel dates and budgets to change it to suit your needs.
- When you're satisfied, complete your itinerary. This is when you can export your plan to a preferred format or integrate it with other mapping tools. Go to the top right corner of your trip itinerary and select Google Maps from the drop-down menu or copy the link to the desired GPS system.
- Next, use Google Maps or GPS systems to monitor real-time traffic and check out the interesting spots between your starting point and your travel destination. (However, an integrated traffic monitoring system is a useful addition to Curiosio.)
Who should use Curiosio?

Curiosio is a simple yet ideal tool for independent travelers who crave flexibility, customization and adventurous touches, especially for independent travelers planning multi-stop road trips.
I think it's perfect for digital nomads, couples, small groups, or anyone taking a chaotic road trip with a family who wants a streamlined way to create a detailed itinerary without resorting to packaged tours.
If you're enjoying the planning process but want to help optimize your route while discovering hidden gems, Curiosio can be a time-saving dopamine tool. It is also particularly useful for travelers who are budget-conscious but still want a balanced travel experience in a context that is tailored to where they go. I found this tool to be easy to navigate, but it helped me save time.
Currently, Curiosio may not be the best choice for travelers looking for a comprehensive vacation, group tour or a very voluntary getaway. If you want to book a flight or resort, or if your trip is centered around staying in one city the whole time, the approach focused on road trips on the platform may feel unnecessary and somewhat empirical.
