What has your career path looked like so far?

I've always wanted to work in technology. Even in middle and high school, I watched science fiction, ate pizza, listened to electronic music, and coded my nights. Early in my career I found myself enjoying solving problems and helping others solve problems together. This was a self-fulfilling prophecy and I got the role I had in my career. I didn't start to become Chase CIO. I focused on solving problems, helping and learning the people around me. It paved the way for the role I had.

What are the highlights of your career path?

I had the opportunity to work with some amazing high-tech brands like eBay, PayPal, Capital One, and JPMorgan Chase. Each experience is unique, but there were outstanding moments during the pandemic in Chase. He supported millions of small businesses through his payroll protection program. It was a long night, but the teamwork and positive impact were incredibly rewarding.

We are also proud to modernize our flagship.chase.comWebsites and mobile apps, move them completely to the cloud. Things move quickly here, and with the rapid transformations of the past few years, every day feels like a highlight. We serve millions of customers and help us achieve our dreams and goals through the continuous modernization of our technology.

What are you excited about in your current role?

I am excited to influence and pilot the technology direction of companies that are exposed to people, businesses, businesses and governments worldwide. The challenges of technology on our scale are unbeatable and it is exciting to work at the heart of an economy where money plays a central role in people's lives. It's refreshing to be part of a place where technology can be deployed, from the cloud to mobile, to generator AI, to millions of customers. Despite being a large company, our people make it feel like a small family and make it fun to come to work every day.

Tell us about your advocacy work for diversity, inclusion and culture.

Everyone brings their own insights and perspectives and offers fresh thinking. It is important to take advantage of this dynamic. That's why we aim to attract the best and brightest things to JPMorgan Chase from all over the world. I make sure that the voices of everyone, including junior employees, can learn and contribute by participating in discussions such as monthly business reviews. We cultivate a meritocracy that allows you to become yourself and thrive.

I'm excited about the promise of generative AI tools and how they force teams to focus on the basics, and how they can offer benefits as well as writing software. These tools can generate code and reduce the hardships of engineers, but they also highlight the importance of basic computer science principles. By addressing time-consuming, error-prone processes that slow us down through unit testing, component testing, end-to-end testing, performance testing, and software releases, generating AI can be adopted more easily by focusing on automating these areas. This focus can help you solve complex problems quickly and more confidently using these tools. A fully automated end-to-end software delivery lifecycle is critical to scaling these technologies, allowing engineers to focus on the right tasks and increase productivity.

What do you do for fun and relaxation?

I've loved electronic music and computers since I was a kid, but that remains the same. In your spare time, you dive into coding and check out the latest technology. I'm still DJing and sometimes hit the club. Because embracing what makes us happy is the key to recharging. This balance helps me do my best in my work, induce creativity, and get things done effectively.

What advice would you give to young people thinking about the path of leadership?

Change is unstoppable, so we accept changes in curiosity and welcoming. Leaders who value change and guide others through it are rare, but they are our future leaders, especially change accelerates. If you're feeling scared, it's a good sign – it's part of learning. Accept healthy doses of fear that comes with growth every day.
