Former conservative Cabinet Minister Penny Moldant spoke about how she knew she was a victim of “destiny humiliating and violent” deep-fer porn when she served as MP.
Speaking to BBC Newsnight, the former House leader said her face was being used in AI-generated deepfark porn, adding that it happened to “many lawmakers.”
Deepfake is an image or video that has been digitally modified using artificial intelligence (AI), which replaces one person's face with another.
Mordaunt was interviewed in the program about advanced age checks that websites containing pornographic materials must implement by Friday.
But talking about the issue of Deepfake porn, she said: “The people behind this… should not recognize real-world consequences when they do something like that…it affects people who take real-world actions against ourselves.”
Mordaunt noticed that her face was being used in Deepfake Porn after last year's Cathy Newman Channel 4 documentary, Mordaunt, Tory colleague Dame Priti Patel, Labor's Angela Rayner, and several other senior female politicians revealed they were victims of the practice.
At the time, Newman revealed that she was also a victim. “It was a violation…it was like me, not me,” she said.
Earlier this year, the government announced plans to make the creation or distribution of sexually explicit deep people a criminal offence following a recent surge in proliferation.
“The worries for me are actually more of the kids,” Moldant told Newsnight's Victoria Derbyshire.
“We don't want people to see these things on their walks to school. If they do, they'll be in treatment. But we seem to be totally happy that they can see it online.”
Mordaunt also said they were “with Australians” about their decision to ban social media platforms under the age of 16.
She added that the government needs to “have some courage” when tackling issues with people like Elon Musk, the owner of former Twitter, X.
“[Musk] It is taking humanity to Mars. I'm sure he can understand the validation of age,” she said.

She competed in the 2022 conservative leadership elections and later served as House leader and chief president of the council.
It gave her a prominent role in the Corner Crown of Charles III, during which she held a ritual sword for over an hour.
Mordaunt served as the MP for Portsmouth North constituency for 14 years before becoming one of several well-known conservatives who lost her seat in last year's general election.
