A new, strange (but many might argue brilliant) TikTok trend is going viral, captivating millions of viewers around the world.
In the age of AI, things are only going to get even more dire. And now, to make things even weirder, an animated fruit stars in a melodramatic cheating drama.
If you go online regularly, you probably already know. Strawberryita is a strawberry who constantly cheats on her fruit husband, causing ire, memes, and endless questions. Yes, you heard it correctly. It’s fruit. Adultery.
For those of you who are fortunate enough to know nothing, please take a moment to understand the madness.
And this isn’t the only clip. Hundreds have popped up over the past few months, and people continue to doomscroll and participate in live reactions and reflections.
If that’s not indicative of the fruit drama’s popularity on the internet, consider this: Some accounts gain millions of followers in a matter of days. The now-deleted AI content account reportedly gained 3.1 million followers in just nine days.
It’s not just one creator riding this wave. Other AI fruit accounts have also followed suit. And people seriously don’t know how to feel about it.
Even celebrities are getting in on the action, with Zara Larsson forced to address the use of AI after reposting one of the clips.
It all started when the “Midnight Sun” singer shared a selfie with the caption, “Sorry I can’t hang out today, I want to see what’s going on with Shoclatina and Strobelt.”
And people went crazy.
In the now-deleted video, Larson said, “I’m just a girl with a phone at the end of the day. And really, sometimes I just want to be funny and connect with people.”
She added, “I don’t use it for my art. I don’t use it to create. I understand that it can be a tool for people to do that. I personally don’t use it.”
Dr. Miami also participated by ranking his favorites from “AI Fruit Love Island.”
Meanwhile, it’s safe to say that others were less impressed, with one writing: “There’s no way we’re seriously laughing at AI achievements.”
Another quipped: “Honestly, even if the AI wasn’t environmentally destructive, I would still think I’m a stupid loser if I really enjoyed AI Fruit Love Island.”
ah.
