aespa is “kind of like a supernova” and the K-pop quartet's latest music video for their upcoming first full-length album has once again strengthened their sonic presence in the industry. On Monday, May 13th, SM Entertainment's girl group pre-released the music video for Supernova ahead of their album 'Armageddon' comeback on April 27th.
Similar to the lead single's title, the new aespa music video is packed with heavy kicks and explosive bass, despite its minimalist musical strengths and accompanying synth melodies. The song is a step away from the group's usual soundscape, so it may not be perceived as a desirable song by some listeners. Despite some negative reactions, the new song's sound and video visuals are consistent with the group's bombastic signature concept of trying to break out of boxed typecasting with each comeback.

The quartet's consistently engaging displays soften the impact of the jarring transitions, which are further accentuated by the video's AI-themed sequences. The new visually stunning concept will amaze you while aptly embodying aespa's digitally powered hyperpop identity, which has been consistent since the members' debut in 2020.
SM Entertainment's longtime collaborator and hit producer Kenzie participated in the composition and lyric writing process for the dance track.
