Advantech, a developer of edge computing systems, today announced a partnership with Qualcomm Technologies and Edge Impulse, a Qualcomm company. The companies plan to accelerate the deployment of next-generation edge AI applications powered by Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-9075 processors.

The collaboration combines Advantech’s Edge AI platform with the Dragonwing IQ-9075 processor and Edge Impulse developer platform. Advantech says this will create an ecosystem that streamlines the development and deployment of AI at the edge.

Miller Chan, President of Advantech’s Embedded IoT Group, said: “By combining Qualcomm Technologies’ powerful Dragonwing IQ-9075 processor with Edge Impulse’s proven platform, we are creating a new AI-enabled solution with a strong foundation for intelligent edge applications. Together, we will enable enterprises to unlock new levels of performance, scalability and efficiency, driving AI innovation from concept to real-world deployment across a wide range of industries.”

The Dragonwing IQ-9075 processor powers Advantech’s new AIR-055 and AFE-A503. Dual Qualcomm Hexagon NPUs and 8-core Qualcomm Kryo Gen 6 CPU deliver up to 100 TOPS of AI performance. Dragonwing IQ-9075 is built for industrial reliability and offers over 10 years of lifetime support, making it ideal for long-term deployments in harsh environments.

Powered by a Dragonwing IQ9075 processor with up to 100 TOPS, the AIR-055 Edge system offers USB, RJ45, HDMI, and M.2 connectivity. It incorporates MIPI-C, co-developed with Appropho and Orbbec, allowing MIPI-CSI to connect directly to 2D/3D industrial cameras via a USB-C cable without the need for a bridge IC.

Supporting 4K resolution and 200 cm transmission, AIR-055 is designed for smart manufacturing, ITS, retail, public safety, robotics, and AMR applications.

“Our expanded collaboration with Advantech is a critical step in bringing high-performance edge AI to industrial and embedded applications,” said Nakul Duggal, Group General, Automotive, Industrial and Embedded IoT at Qualcomm Technologies. “This collaboration will enable industry to exploit the full potential of intelligent autonomous systems and accelerate the adoption of next-generation AI applications in a variety of sectors.”

Powered by the latest Dragonwing IQ-9075 processor, Advantech AFE-A503 is specially designed for outdoor AMR and delivery robots. It features 4x Ethernet ports for 2D/3D LIDAR and PoE cameras, 8x GMSL for combined RGB/3D cameras, isolated CANFD, and RS232 for IMU integration.

The 20-36 V power supply design allows battery-powered AMRs to operate all day long. The product also offers the Advantech Robotic Suite pre-built with ROS2, AI acceleration SDK, and sensor node integration to accelerate time to market for robotic applications.

The new Edge AI system, powered by the latest Dragonwing IQ-9075 processor, will be on display at Embedded World North America from November 4th to 6th at Advantech’s booth (#6048), Edge Impulse’s booth (#5061), and the development kit zone.
