Adobe announces new AI-powered video editing tools for Premiere

AI Video & Visuals

Adobe announced updates to Premiere and After Effects that include new AI-powered tools aimed at speeding up video editing tasks. Premiere, the company’s video editing software, announced a new AI-powered object masking feature that makes it easy to select and track people and objects as they move within a video clip. Just move your mouse over that object and click to generate a mask overlay in seconds. Masks are meant to be accurate from the start, but you can adjust and resize them as needed. Adobe says the feature uses a proprietary AI model and processing happens on-device. It also states that it does not use user activity or data to train its models.

The company has also upgraded its shape mask tool. Generate redesigned ellipse, rectangle, and pen masks directly from the toolbar. Additionally, controls have been updated to make moving and adjusting masks more precise. The mask can also now track objects on video clips 20 times faster than previous masks. This means you no longer have to keep a close eye on the status bar. Another new Premiere update makes it easier to bring media into the program from Firefly Boards, Adobe’s AI-powered digital canvas. Additionally, Adobe Stock is now fully integrated within Premiere.

For After Effects, Adobe has released an update that allows you to import commonly used SVG files in Illustrator. Additionally, you can now build graphics and photorealistic objects within your images using 3D parametric meshes consisting of cubes, spheres, cylinders, cones, tori, and planes within your visual effects software.
