Galaxy AI hits 200 million devices, Apple Intelligence release delayed

AI News

Apple is a bit late to jumping on the AI bandwagon that everyone seems to be jumping on these days. The company only recently announced its own version of “AI,” Apple Intelligence, with a set of features it said will be released later this year.

However, a new report suggests that Apple may not meet its original timeline for the release of Apple Intelligence, meaning users will have to wait a little longer, while Samsung's Galaxy AI is on track to hit 200 million users by the end of the year.

Not all Apple Intelligence features available at launch

Apple Intelligence was scheduled to be released alongside iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 in September of this year. Bloomberg There are reports that the release of Apple Intelligence may be delayed by at least a month, with iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 finally introducing these features in October.

Even when it is released, not all of Apple Intelligence's features will be available right away. Some features, such as Siri's AI capabilities, will be delayed further and may not be released until the end of the year. Additionally, not all features will be available on all iPhones that support iOS 18. Because Apple Intelligence requires a device with an A17 Pro, the only two existing models that are compatible are the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

Samsung has been much quicker with its Galaxy AI rollout. Within a few months of the AI suite being announced, it had already been rolled out to over 100 million devices. The company has also done a great job of bringing many of its features to older devices. Galaxy AI has been improved with new features announced alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 earlier this month. These features will also be coming to older devices with One UI 6.1.1.

At its Unpacked event, the company revealed that Galaxy AI will be available on 200 million devices by the end of the year, and with strong sales of new foldable devices and a new high-end tablet due to launch in the coming months, it's entirely possible that Galaxy AI will hit that milestone by the end of the year pretty easily.
