Bengaluru has emerged as the second-largest hub globally for the talent pool working in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, according to the Karnataka Global Capability Centre (GCC) 2024 Landscape Report, released on Monday.

“Bengaluru is home to more than 25% of India's digital talent pool of over 325,000. Bengaluru is the second largest AI talent pool globally. It is currently recognised as a global AI hub,” the report said.

On GCC in Bangalore, the report noted that 60 percent of Forbes 2000 global companies with GCCs in India have set up their centres in Bangalore. The report was released by IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge.

The report lists application development and maintenance, digital services, IT consulting, IT support and IT infrastructure as emerging technologies with potential for the future, and also recommends capitalising on in-demand technology and digital skills such as data analytics, cloud computing, cybersecurity and the Internet of Things.

“Our analysis suggests that Karnataka has the potential to become a major GCC hub and house over 15 per cent of Forbes companies. By 2030, Karnataka has the potential to attract around 330 Forbes 2000 companies,” the report said.

During the event, Kharge said the state government will soon announce the GCC policy to attract more companies to set up base in Karnataka.
