The Bay Area facility will advance AI technology that enables the humanoid robot Digit to learn new skills and support expanded capabilities across commercial deployments.
Agility, a leading humanoid robotics and physical AI company, announced the opening of a new facility in Fremont, California, aimed at accelerating physical AI development that directly improves operational performance for customers. The new site will serve as a hub for the company’s software and capabilities, where its engineering team will train, test and advance AI technology that enables Agility’s humanoid robot, Digit, to learn new skills and perform more advanced tasks in customer environments.
The 60,000 square foot facility complements Agility’s RoboFab manufacturing operations in Salem, Oregon, and establishes Agility’s Bay Area physical AI development hub in the heart of Silicon Valley.
Agility will have approximately 200 existing and new employees, including hardware engineering, AI/ML software engineering, and field operations, who will lead the development and deployment of next-generation AI capabilities and extend Digit’s market lead in safety and productivity in enterprise environments.

“Our location in the heart of Silicon Valley allows us to participate in the world’s leading AI talent and innovation ecosystem, allowing us to develop new capabilities for Digit more quickly and bring them to immediate use for our customers,” said Peggy Johnson, CEO of Agility. “As one of the only companies operationally deploying humanoids in real-world enterprise environments, our Fremont facility plays a critical role in driving innovation to anticipate and deliver the capabilities our customers need.”
Agility is actively deploying humanoid robots in collaboration with Schaeffler, GXO, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, and Mercado Libre. The company has already secured more than $300 million in multi-year orders for Digit v5, subject to the achievement of certain contractual milestones and an expanding pipeline of more than 30 customers, reflecting growing demand from companies preparing for large-scale adoption of humanoid robots. The Fremont facility is essential to meeting this demand and driving further adoption by providing continuous safety and productivity benefits built on AI. AI can increasingly take on more repetitive and physically demanding tasks in warehouses and manufacturing facilities, while working safely with people.
“Fremont is where the future is built, and Agility Robotics’ decision to establish an AI development hub here reflects the strength of our talent, culture of innovation, and leadership in advanced manufacturing and robotics,” said Fremont Mayor Raj Salwan. “We are proud to welcome Agility to our community with nearly 200 high-quality jobs and continued investment in Fremont.”
Agility is expanding its physical footprint ahead of its planned public offering through a business combination with Churchill Capital Corp.
