Sogang University has been designated as an AI/Digital (AI/D) Lead University under the efforts of the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education to expand online lifelong learning through universities. This designation recognizes the university’s ability to deliver AI and digital upskilling programs tailored to the needs of working professionals who are driving digital transformation across industries.
This recognition follows Sogang’s development and offering in 2025 of a set of AI•D courses specifically for professionals in the finance and insurance sectors. The three course packages are designed around practical application rather than theoretical instruction. The first course introduced machine learning and deep learning concepts through hands-on sessions in Colab. The second covered how generative AI tools can be applied directly within finance and insurance workflows. The third guided participants on how to use search augmentation generation (RAG) technology to build personalized AI assistants, including financial advisor and insurance agent models. All three courses were taught by faculty from the mathematics department.
Beyond course content, the program also introduced a digital badge recognition system to formally recognize learning progress and encourage continued engagement. This combination of applied curriculum and structured certification has created a replicable model of AI and digital reskilling based on real-world industry demands.
Sogang has indicated that it will continue to expand its AI-D program for working adults in 2026, with the aim of strengthening practical AI capabilities across industries facing accelerating digital transformation.
