A new clip from MCC Theater’s MISCAST26 has been released, showing Casey Levy performing ‘What Do I Need With Love’ from Thollly Modern Millie. The video captures the recent Tony Award winner performing the show-stopping number from the 2002 Broadway hit and paying tribute to her best friend Gavin Creel.
MISCAST26 is the latest in MCC Theater’s long-running annual event, a one-night-only musical spectacle featuring Broadway performers performing songs in roles not traditionally performed. The gala serves as an important fundraiser for the company, which supports new Off-Broadway productions, MCC Youth Company, in-school partnerships with New York City public high schools, and literary development efforts with emerging playwrights.
The broadcast was directed by Jess Ryan, with musical direction and arrangement by Will Van Dyke. The night honored Tony Award-winning producers Roy and Jill Furman. After the event, the full version of MISCAST26 will be available to stream on YouTube.
Broadway World featured several performances from the night, including Lucy Ann Miles singing “Giants in the Sky” from “Into the Woods” and Alex Brightman and Sarah Chase singing “Mungo Jelly and Rumpleteezer” from “CATS.”
