Google announced that its Personal Intelligence feature is now available to all users in the United States, including those on its free plan. Previously limited to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers, this update brings personalization tools to a wider audience. “Since we introduced Personal Intelligence earlier this year, people have loved the highly customized support they get in AI Mode in Search and the Gemini app, and are asking new kinds of questions. Now, we’re expanding Personal Intelligence in the U.S. across AI Mode in Search, the Gemini app, and Gemini in Chrome,” Google said in a blog post.
How personal information works
Personal Intelligence lets you securely connect the dots across Google apps like Gmail, Google Photos, and more to provide you with unique, relevant responses. Whether you’re looking for a specific brand of sneakers you’ve previously purchased, or planning a family vacation based on hotel reviews or past travel memories, personal intelligence can help you find exactly what you need without providing all the context.Google also highlights the fact that Personal Intelligence is opt-in only. Users can choose which apps to connect to and disconnect at any time. It’s also important to note that Google has made it clear that Gemini and AI modes are not trained directly on your Gmail inbox or photo library, but only on limited prompt-and-response data.“Personal Intelligence is designed with transparency, choice, and control at its core. You can choose whether and when to connect to apps like Gmail and Google Photos, and turn them on or off at any time. Built with privacy in mind, Gemini and AI modes are never trained directly in your Gmail inbox or Google Photos library. We train on limited information, such as specific prompts and model responses in Gemini and AI modes, and improve functionality over time. ” Google added.
