After a distorted image of the Chief Minister, allegedly created using artificial intelligence, went viral on social media and caused controversy, another AI-based social media post against a powerful minister and a local MLA in the name of an Udaipur municipal councilor also created a sensation in political circles on Sunday.
Meanwhile, on Saturday night, taking the issue seriously, a group of MDCs led by Bharatiya Janata Party state general secretary Bipin Debbarma filed an FIR against a social media account named Kolan Triprasa for spreading a distorted image of the state’s chief minister Dr Manik Saha along with Tipla Motha supremo Pradyoyot Kishore Debbarma.
According to reports, the complaint was filed over the circulation of an image of the Prime Minister that was created using AI technology and widely shared online. The plaintiffs claimed that the images were intentionally altered to defame the prime minister and mislead the public.
After lodging the FIR at West Agartala police station on Saturday night, Bharatiya Janata Party chief Bipin Debbarma met media persons and strongly condemned such defamatory acts by unscrupulous suspects and asserted that the Chief Minister does not belong to any political party or community and represents the entire state. “To defame his clean image, some sections are taking political advantage and they are now trying to create fake AI images to tarnish the clean image of the Prime Minister,” Debbarma said, demanding immediate action by the police to identify those responsible for such distorted images and their spread on social media.

The viral statement has raised questions about the amount the minister allegedly received from the Udaipur Jagannath Dighi Development Project, which involves works worth around Rs 174 million. It is further alleged that MLA Abhishek Debroy has built a luxurious mansion in Agartala and bought an apartment outside the state at a cost of close to Rs 100 crore.
However, when contacted on the matter, Udaipur Municipal Council ward 11 councilor Ranjit Das clarified that the statement circulating on social media was not his. He claims that unknown individuals used artificial intelligence (AI) technology to create and distribute false videos and statements in his name. He further stated that he has not yet explored any legal options regarding the incident, but that he is currently investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, when asked about the issue, MLA Abhishek Debroy completely denied the allegations. Debroy said: “This is nothing but the activity of a madman. Nowhere in India does one need Rs 100 million to buy an apartment.”
The incident has already caused tension in Udaipur’s political landscape. Questions regarding the authenticity of the statement circulating on social media have begun to surface in various quarters.
