Inaugurated during the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, the pavilion combines advanced hologram technology and artificial intelligence to bring to life digital versions of Lord Krishna and the warrior Arjuna from the Mahabharata. This immersive installation is part of the ‘Jio Intelligence’ pavilion by Reliance Industries, where visitors will be introduced to AI-powered storytelling based on epics.
“Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh”
The pavilion also offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of the AI-generated series Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh, which was launched a few months ago. The show is completely created using artificial intelligence and is currently streaming on JioHotstar.
At the center of the display is a cove-like installation that projects a series of AI-generated visuals, a new digital retelling of the epic story.
On either side of the cove are two transparent cylindrical capsules, each with an AI-generated projected image of Lord Krishna and Arjuna depicted in the series.
An interactive console installed next to the capsule allows visitors to “ask questions,” which are then verbally responded to by a digital character. Visitors can choose from prompts such as “What is Dharma?”, “Who is our greatest inner enemy?”, and “What should we do when we feel that life is unfair?” and “What is the biggest trap for humanity?”
Visual depiction of epic characters
The AI depiction of Lord Krishna shows him holding a flute and has a characteristic dusky complexion with subtle blue undertones. The digital depiction of Arjuna is more subdued and features a dhoti and silver-toned tunic combination. He is depicted holding his iconic bow, and his long royal hair frames a calm and dignified look.
A senior Reliance Group official said the pavilion has been attracting visitors from a wide range of age groups for the past few days.
“Through technology, our endeavor is to bring old epics to meet new generations. So, we have recreated and reimagined the epic ‘Mahabharat’ using AI. The entire show has been created using AI. It is already on our platform JioHotstar and is about 17 episodes in now,” a source told PTI.
A dedicated exhibition wall in the pavilion also explains the creative process behind the AI-generated characters.
“Our team has been working diligently on this project,” said a Reliance Group official.
