Jack White has made it very clear over the past few months that he is not playing the MAGA GOP game. White has repeatedly criticized Donald Trump over the past year for everything from the controversial gold-plated makeover of the White House and the demolition of the East Wing to beloved director Rob Reiner's “vile” and hateful death of the president, but he has remained silent when it comes to criticizing Trump 2.0's divisive rhetoric and actions.

A lawmaker from White's home state of Tennessee took aim at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Tim Burchett again this week after he shared a misleading AI-generated video that appeared to show the Seven Nation Army star telling Trump supporters not to listen to his music.
Although X warned that Burchett's original post contained fake footage featuring White and falsely posted quotes (links to those videos appear to have been removed from the first version), the 61-year-old Republican, who has been representing Tennessee's 2nd Congressional District since 2019, doubled down on it in an accompanying message, provocatively writing, “That pretty girl from the Addams Family was really ugly and angry.”
The attempted schoolyard jab is consistent with the Trump administration's frequent use of social media, sometimes using AI-generated memes and videos, to ridicule, belittle and denigrate its perceived opponents, and certainly infuriated Mr. White. In a furious response posted on Tuesday (Dec. 30), White accused state representatives of being too low-key.
“Can you believe that a member of Congress of the United States, yes, a member of Congress (from my state), who once held a sacred and respected position in our society, would repost an AI-generated video containing false comments that he never said (without any research I might add) and then add to that that he tried to insult my appearance like a 10-year-old on the playground?” White wrote. “What kind of joke are we living in now?”
In response to a post's claim that White told MAGA supporters, “Don't even think about listening to my music, you fascists,” White said, “All of Trump's henchmen and thugs like this elected official… He's a coward who wouldn't talk to someone like you like this directly. Trump really lowered standards when he brought disaster to this government. Neither he nor his sycophants and women are showing class or dignity. All of this just repeats cheap, childish, grade-school bullying remarks and fake Christian (!) rhetoric. It's really sad how embarrassing our leaders have become. I wish the average American conservative could just take a moment to have a conversation with intelligent people in other countries around the world and actually realize what a joke our government (and by proxy our country) has become.”
White said his great state “deserves” more than Burchett, but said he aims to give power and voice to people he calls “low-class playground bullies,” including Trump and the state's lawmakers. signboard We have contacted the congressman's office for comment.
