China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater has released a short AI-generated video titled “Joint Operation to Prevent 'Taiwan Independence' Attempts” for its latest military exercise. Using state-of-the-art visual effects, the video depicts eagles, sharks, fish, bees, wolves, and a swarm of apes transforming into the People's Liberation Army's latest unmanned weapons and equipment, showcasing large-scale unmanned combat scenarios.

This AI-generated video includes a notable logo that not only indicates ownership of the unmanned system, but also marks the official launch of the People's Liberation Army's unmanned warfare initiative.

This video excited military enthusiasts. It begins with the “Flock of Eagles” segment. The Eagle transforms into an armed reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle and patrols the skies over the island of Taiwan, demonstrating the People's Liberation Army's all-weather, long-endurance, high-precision intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities. “The Eagle's Eye locks on and the target is eliminated in one blow.”

In the “School of Sharks” sequence, sharks transform into deep-sea unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), showcasing the PLA's low-cost, high-efficiency, stealth anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and underwater reconnaissance capabilities. “The silent predators of the deep sea can strike without leaving a trace.”

At the surface, the jumping fish transforms into the Orca unmanned surface vessel (USV), which teams up manned and unmanned to form a low-cost attack network. These USVs conduct decoy operations, ISR, and anti-ship attacks.

The most visually striking segment is the “swarm of bees.” Swarms of bees are transformed into micro-UAVs and deployed en masse by larger “Jetank” UAVs for long-distance deliveries. This swarm tactic creates overwhelming deterrence and greatly expands the operational range.

In the “Wolf Pack” segment, wolves roaming through the forest become quadrupedal “robotic wolves” that execute coordinated pack tactics through dynamic task assignment with AI algorithms. They excel at reconnaissance, infiltration, and assault missions in mountainous, jungle, and urban warfare environments.

In the “Monkey Swarm” urban combat sequence, PLA personnel transform into intelligent robots to conduct reconnaissance, early warning, infiltration, and raids during urban domination operations to increase operational efficiency and reduce casualties.

The video culminates in a breathtaking montage of all the unmanned weapons and equipment operating in unison. Analysts noted that this highlights not only the PLA's advanced unmanned hardware but also its innovation-driven, integrated unmanned intelligent warfare capabilities.

Prominent in the upper right corner of the entire AI-generated video is the “War Drum” vertical column logo of the People's Liberation Army Eastern Theater District. It is a symbol of both its affiliation with unmanned systems and the PLA's resolute commitment to unmanned warfare.

Analysts emphasized that this marks an evolution in the PLA's operational concepts and principles. They said integrated air, land, sea and space operations, combined with coordinated manned and unmanned capabilities, enable overwhelming attacks that leave the enemy with no means of escape or cover.

Analysts added that the Eastern Theater Command's use of AI to showcase the concept of unmanned warfare serves as a strong response to “Taiwan independence” separatist forces' attempts to arm the island by wasting public funds. Such a “porcupine strategy” cannot counter the PLA's growing number of cutting-edge and new high-quality combat capabilities.
