The Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka on Thursday circulated an AI-generated video depicting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah getting irritated after reading comments from viewers during a mock Facebook Live session.
In the AI-generated clip, the prime minister is seen telling viewers: “I’ve finished two and a half years as prime minister. I don’t know how long I’ll be here as prime minister, but I want to talk to you all, so I’m live streaming on Facebook.”
As the hypothetical livestream unfolded, AI-generated comments began to appear, with users named Jamal, Ajmal, Rafiq, and Faiz offering supportive messages urging him to “remain prime minister for five years.”
However, one viewer, who identified himself as Shivashankar Kanakapura, asked, “How long will you remain chief minister? Please resign and leave.” The AI-generated version of Siddaramaiah immediately reacted and said, “Who is this guy commenting? Block him.”
The BJP circulated the video to mock the chief minister and highlight what it says is growing discord within the Congress government as it reaches the halfway point of its five-year term.
“Submit the 17th Budget”: Siddaramaiah
Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said that he would continue as Karnataka chief minister and submit the 17th budget next year.
Siddaramaiah, who also holds the finance portfolio, submitted the 16th Budget in March.
He was speaking at the Golden Jubilee of LG Habanur on Wednesday to mark the presentation of the first Backward Classes Commission report.
“When I first became finance minister, a newspaper wrote – How will this Siddaramaiah (Kuruva) function as Karnataka’s finance minister who cannot count a hundred sheep? I took this as a challenge… I have presented 16 budgets. Now I will present the 17th,” Siddaramaiah said to loud applause.
The budget for 2026-27 is expected to be presented in March next year, and preparatory work has already begun.
Siddaramaiah’s comments come amid speculation about a possible leadership change in the state when the Congress government reaches the halfway point of its five-year term in November.
