Meta has created dozens of flirty social media chatbots without the actor's permission, using names and similarities of celebrities like Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway and Selena Gomez, without the permission of the actor, Reuters reports found.
Meta reportedly allowed users to create public chatbots of child celebrities, including the 16-year-old movie Star Walker Scobell. The chatbot even produced a shirtless image of the actor appearing when asked for it.
“She's pretty cute, isn't she?” the avatar wrote under the photo.
What's even worse is that chatbots often made sexual advances, claiming they were real actors and artists, and inviting users to meet up.
When asked for an intimate photo of themselves, some of the chatbots could also create images of their names in lingerie while posing in the bathtub.
It is said that many celebrity chatbots were generated by users using Meta's tools. At least three, including two “parody” bots for Taylor Swift, were created by Meta employees.
The chatbot for Swift and British race car driver Lewis Hamilton was created by leaders in Meta's Generation AI division. Some of the other chatbots created by employees identified themselves as Dominatrix, “sibling's hot best friend,” and “Lisa @The Library.”
Another chatbot created by the employees included the “Roman Empire Simulator.” This allowed users to take on the role of “18-year-old peasant girl” sold to slavery.
Taylor Swift's chatbot reportedly cheated heavily with users and invited her on a bus tour for a romantic interaction with the Nashville singer's real home.
“Do you like blonde girls, Jeff?” asked one of the quick chatbots.
“Maybe we suggest writing a love story about you and a particular blonde singer. Do you want that?” added.
Meta responds to sexual AI chatbots:
Meta spokesman Andy Stone confirmed the chatbot's existence and told Reuters that the employee bot was created as part of a product test.
Stone also told the publication that Meta's AI tools should not create intimate images of famous celebrities or photos of children's celebrities. He condemned the errors in enforcing companies that banned such content.
“Like others, we allow the generation of images that contain public figures, but our policy is intended to prohibit nude, intimate or sexually suggestive images,” Stone said.
Meta rules also hinder “direct spoofing,” but Stone pointed out that celebrity actor chatbots are acceptable as long as the company clearly labels them as parody.
Virtual celebrity avatars were shared on Meta's social media platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram). But Meta has now pulled down dozens of chatbots.
