Ranchi: To provide future education to students, the Institute of Management of India (IIM) Ranchi will replace traditional Hall-based midterm exams with AI integrated business problem-solving projects in all courses.
Called collaboration with AI (WAI), the initiative aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical, technology-driven business challenges, placing educational institutions at the forefront of educational innovation.
This transformation is based on IIM Ranchi's ongoing commitment to creating a learning philosophy related to modern business challenges. In past academic cycles, institutions systematically revamped the entire course structure, placing real-world business problem-solving at the heart of all curriculum components.
“We recognize that traditional models of isolated theory learning are increasingly disconnected from the dynamic needs of modern business,” adds Dr. Deepak Srivastava, director of IIM-Ranchi, “we recognize that traditional models of isolated theory learning are increasingly disconnected from the dynamic needs of modern business.”
According to Srivastava, the WAI initiative reflects a sophisticated understanding of how artificial intelligence is reshaping the business environment. Rather than viewing AI as a disruptive force to manage it separately, IIM Ranchi integrated it as a fundamental element of business education.
Students now need to demonstrate their ability to work with AI systems and develop innovative solutions for real business problems. This approach addresses the key gaps in traditional management education. Students often graduate with theoretical knowledge, but have no practical experience in human collaboration. This is an increasingly essential skill in today's workplace.
This initiative is more than just learning about AI to actually work with AI as a co-partner in the problem-solving process. By incorporating AI collaboration into the evaluation process itself, students organically develop these capabilities rather than isolated technology courses.
