Openai is reducing work with Scale AI, a multi-billion-dollar invested artificial intelligence startup Meta Earlier this month, its founder joined the social media company and led the AI efforts.

Scale is best known for helping major tech companies, including Openai, prepare the data they use to train cutting-edge AI models. However, Openai spokesperson said Openai has been pulled back from the startup for the past six to 12 months.

Openai aims to work with other data providers who are ready for innovation and understand what modern models need, the spokesman said. Openai's decision to put together work with Scale AI was not affected by the Meta partnership, the spokesman said.

Bloomberg first reported that Openai is phased out its relationship with scale. Scale AI did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment.

Meta has invested $14.3 billion in size and will earn a 49% stake in the startup. But Meta doesn't have the right to vote for the company, an AI spokesperson told CNBC earlier this month.

Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang told the memo that he will set off for the meta and a small number of employees will be taking part as part of the contract. Scale AI is promoting Chief Strategy Officer Jason Droege to the CEO role.

The big bet of meta on the King is CEO Mark Zuckerberg's latest effort to strengthen his company's development amid fierce competition with Openai and Google's parents alphabet. Openai CEO Sam Altman said in the latest episode of the brother-sponsored “Uncapped” podcast, Meta tried to poach Openai employees by signing a $100 million bonus with a larger annual pay package.

Meta has poured billions of dollars into AI in recent years, but Zuckerberg is unhappy with the company's progress.

Scale AI previously said that Meta's investments and Wang's employment had no impact on startup customers, and that Meta is unaware of either its business information or data.
