22 Dubai government entities appoint chief AI officers

DUBAI: For the first time, Dubai has appointed a Chief AI Officer across 22 government entities.

The move was approved on Sunday by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

In a post on his X account, Sheikh Hamdan said the appointments were “part of a future-oriented vision focused on leveraging AI in government work. The moves will support Dubai's journey and expertise and transform the outlook for developing innovative solutions based on advanced technologies.”

He added: “Accelerating AI, its tools and applications is a key pillar of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision. [Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai] Positioning Dubai as a global hub for the development and deployment of AI solutions.

Sheikh Hamdan concluded: “The appointment of a new Chief AI Officer at Dubai Government is a step in the process to realise our vision for the future of work in government, in line with the Dubai AI Universal Blueprint. [DUB.AI]We expect them to accelerate their work and redouble their efforts to turn our vision into a reality.”
