Influential YouTube technology critic Marques Brownlee, whose channel is MKBHD, wrote a scathing review of Humane's new AI Pin on Monday, titled “The worst product I've ever reviewed.” I did.
Although one Humane employee took the feedback in stride, the video caused a huge uproar for Company X, with one detractor calling out Brownlee's enormous influence and ability to damage the startup. Considering the above, posting the review was “almost unethical”.
The Humane AI Pin, which Brownlee wasn't the first to criticize, is a small wearable computer (priced at $700, plus a $24 monthly subscription) that straps to your shirt.
It is intended to complete everyday tasks such as answering questions, making phone calls, and taking photos. You can also project an interactive screen into the user's palm.
In his review, Brownlee praised the device's construction and craftsmanship. He said he loves the concept of an AI assistant and respects the Humane team for trying to create something new.
But in practice, Brownlee said, the device was slow, often returned incorrect answers, had inconsistent battery life, and had poor photo and video quality.
This YouTuber's review drew strong reactions regarding X.

Although they did not object to Brownlee's right to post, some agreed that the review could harm humanitarian interests.
