Adding AI-generated videos to your short-form posts is now even easier. YouTube has announced that Shorts will integrate Veo 2, Google DeepMind’s latest video mode, allowing users to generate and add AI clips to their videos.
This new feature will be part of Shorts’ Dream Screen, which already allows users to add AI-generated backgrounds to their posts.
In a blog post announcing the news, YouTube wrote, “Need a specific scene but don’t have the right footage? Want to bring your imagination to life and tell a unique story? Just use text prompts to generate video clips that fit your story perfectly, or create whole new worlds of content. It’s that easy!”

YouTube claimed in a blog post that Veo 2 has a “better understanding of real-world physics and human movement,” which should result in more detailed and accurate results. Users should also be able to create AI videos that fit a specific “style, lens, or cinematic effect.”

It’s both refreshing and a little worrying that AI videos are so easy to create. YouTube said the AI-generated creations will include both a SynthID watermark and a transparent label. I hope this clears up any confusion for viewers.
At this time, the new AI features are launching for users in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
