Your next Yelp visit may include AI videos – with catch

AI Video & Visuals

The next time you go to Yelp on your mobile phone and check out the latest restaurant reviews, you may be greeted with an AI-generated video. Yelp deploys artificial intelligence videos to feed iOS apps to Yelp's homepage.

AI Video uses a large-scale language model to grab text from a review of establishment and turn it into Ai Voice narration (11 courtesy) and captions (course courtesy of Amazon Transcribe). Yelp then uses photos uploaded from user reviews to create a slideshow-like display of what you eat, drink, and dance.

As far as surveillance of these AI videos is concerned, neither reviewers nor companies seem to have spoken out. Companies cannot preview AI videos or provide input before they are generated, and users cannot refuse to use reviews or photos. It may raise some privacy red flags, but Yelp can use content posted to sites like this. This is something users should be aware of when conducting future reviews.

Audiences of AI videos have the option to report the video as inaccurate or contain offensive content. Yelp says it will conduct a wide range of audits of the videos. This will be updated regularly for the facility as more reviews and photos come in.

Yelp Cpo Craig Saldanha, Yelp Cpo Craig Saldanha, will tell you whether your own activity on Yelp will watch the video, but the company wants to create as many videos as possible. We will always let you know if there is a way to opt out of using the review content used in these videos.

Yelp Chief Executive Craig Saldanha said CNET contacted Yelp to find out more. “The new AI-stitched video offers another way that content can be seen in the community,” he told us. “The videos are updated regularly and only use content on the platform. If users don't want to show their photos in upcoming AI stitch videos, they can always remove those photos from Yelp.”
