Your next job interview may be conducted by an AI agent

AI For Business

Amid a potentially radical reform of the job market, a startup called Optimhire has built new technology that transforms the hunt for old-fashioned work into an AI-driven conversation between intelligent agents.

On Thursday, Optimhire announced a new partnership with Job Copilot, an AI agent seeking autonomous work, and Job Sites CareerBuilder and Monster. Optimhire designed this technology to help candidates scrutinize the internet for their best work and apply it automatically.

Optimhire also provides employers with similar AI tools, helping them screen these AI-powered applications and even automatically interview candidates.

AI on both sides of a job hunt

Optimhire has built a job capillot for candidates. Upload your resume and preferences in minutes, this AI agent technology will write over 300,000 companies, tailor applications, resume customizations, and even cover letters. In theory, it applies to thousands of jobs 24 hours a day while the candidate is asleep.

The tsunami in this application created another challenge. It's an overwhelming employment team. That's where Optimhire's recruiter AI service comes into play. As job association employers attack candidates, recruiter AI automatically screens, ranks, and interviews. Filter applicants using employment-specific questions, rank top candidates, and surface the best fit for your company's HR team.

“Almost every candidate has their own AI persona,” Optimhire CEO Larry Kodali told me in a recent interview. “The same thing as recruiters. Every company gets AI recruiters because it screens many of these recruitment applications and eliminates a lot of other work.”

Optimhire's AI technology will conduct job seekers interviews, from HR-level screening interviews to more advanced skills-based assessments of applicants, Kodali said.

“You can set up all the stages,” he said. “We are currently focusing on the initial interview and then customizable based on all roles. Clients can decide what they want to do from each round of interview.”

From job boards to AI matchmaking

This model has been broken sharply from the traditional playbook. In many cases, businesses can pay thousands of dollars for sponsored posts on recruitment sites and wait weeks for human applicants to find these lists and apply.

Now, businesses can post jobs and receive thousands of AI-generated applications in hours or minutes, Kodari said. Optimhire's recruiter AI will sometimes filter and deliver the candidate list before the manager completes the coffee.

New normal for employment?

Optimhire's partnership with CareerBuilder and Monster has expanded its reach to more than 200 million candidates across the sector, including Tech, Finance and Healthcare. With $6 million in funding and $8 million in recurring revenue per year, Kodali said the startup has built eight specialized AI engines to handle everything from video and audio interviews to technical evaluations.

Whether this will lead to more meritocratic employment or mere noise remains to be seen. One thing is that the machine is taking on more employment processes on both sides of the equation.
