NotebookLM continues to receive frequent updates from Google, and now the company has introduced one of its biggest upgrades to date. The new Cinematic Video Overview feature enables AI-powered learning platforms to generate fully immersive animated videos from user content. The previous video overview feature only allowed you to create static slide-based presentations, but the latest update replaces it with a more dynamic and visually appealing video overview.
This addition aims to make learning and understanding complex topics more interactive across NotebookLM’s web and mobile apps.

According to a blog post by Pete Aykroyd, NotebookLM has received a major update that introduces Cinematic Video Overviews. This new feature allows selected users to generate fully animated videos from their source material, and is a significant upgrade from the previous narrated slide-based video summaries. This change will make AI-generated videos on the platform more immersive and visually appealing for users.

This feature is powered by a combination of Gemini 3, Nano Banana Pro, and Veo 3 AI models. Google explained that Gemini will act as a creative director, generating video scripts and prompts while shaping the structure and visual style. We also determine the narrative flow, format, and overall presentation, adjusting the content to maintain consistency throughout the video.
Cinematic Video Overview is currently available only to Google AI Ultra subscribers and supports English sources.
