6-second clip
Today, Google unveiled several new creative tools to help you “help to create memories.” You can take photos saved in the gallery and turn them into short videos. You can add “Subtle Movement” or “I Feel Lucky” to animate the photo into a 6-second clip.
Google added a similar photo-to-video ability to the Gemini app earlier this month (Tianan Ray, senior contributor to ZDNET, said it “avoids how well it works”).

However, there is a big difference between this and the Gemini version. One is that this runs on Google's older Veo 2 video model, and Gemini runs on VEO 3. Another thing is that you cannot enter your own custom prompt in the photo version.
This feature is available on Android and iOS.
Remix the photo
It also has a new ability to “remix” photos into new styles. With Remix, you can edit photos to create a variety of appearances, such as anime, comics, 3D animations, sketches, and more. Tap the button to give your photos a whole new feel that is ready to be shared on social.

Google calls both of these features into experimental stills, and admits that some output is probably not intended. To help improve things, you can raise your thumbs, lower your rating and give feedback after creation.
With the rise in AI video and photo creation tools, Google says it understands that they need to use these tools responsibly. Not only are there any measures in place to prevent misuse, but remixed photos include digital synthed watermarks that are invisible to the naked eye (the same thing Google does with photos edited with Reimagine). Videos generated by the new photo feature have a visual watermark.
