Xi Jinping: Artificial intelligence must be a symphony of international cooperation – video
Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s commitment to global cooperation on artificial intelligence and called on countries to work together to shape the future of AI through cooperation rather than competition.
In his keynote speech at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, President Xi emphasized that China remains committed to strengthening international AI governance, the Caspian Post reported.
President Xi said, “China has steadily contributed to global AI governance.”
The Chinese leader emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation and stressed that no single country should have a monopoly on the development of artificial intelligence.
“In China, we often say, “One string cannot make music, and one tree cannot make a forest.” AI development should not be a solo performance by one country, but a symphony of international cooperation,” he said.
President Xi pointed out that the creation of the World Council on Artificial Intelligence reflects the joint efforts of the international community.
“Thanks to our joint efforts, WAIC was born in Shanghai. Our vision a year ago has now become a reality,” he said.
President Xi described the initiative as a milestone in international cooperation and added:
“This is a major move by China to answer the call of the Global South and unite the international community to vigorously promote AI development and governance.”
The Chinese President concluded by reaffirming the Chinese government’s commitment to promoting inclusive, cooperative and responsible artificial intelligence development and working with countries around the world to strengthen global AI governance.
