Xai's new Grok Imagine tool is an AI image and video generator that encourages users to create NSFW content. In contrast to rival generation AI video tools such as Google's VEO VEO and Openai's SORA, it tries to block users from generating shady things.
Grok Imagine includes a text-to-image tool that allows users to generate photos based on descriptions, or to create short clips with audio effects like Google's VEO 3 model. However, unlike VEO, Grok Imagine does not generate videos directly from textual descriptions. Instead, users must select an existing image from the gallery or generate something in GROK to animate first.
There are few restrictions on image generation. Users can generate a variety of styles, including photorealism, anime, illustrations and more. It also features an audio mode that allows children to speak prompts rather than interacting with them. Video generation is based on reference images uploaded by the user and comes in four modes to instruct you how to animate custom, normally, fun and spicy.
Musk describes Grok Imagine as “Ai Vine.” This is a platform that has long been an interest in revival. X users have already published experiments with Grok Imagine. Some of the “spicy” options depict photorealistic women who flash their breasts and genitals, while the Bikini-Clad anime dances sexy against SpaceX Rockets. More than 34 million images have been generated using the tool since Monday, according to Musk.
It's unclear if Grok Imagine had content generation restrictions, but Guardrails can very easily bypass Grok's previous image generation tools. TechCrunch In our own tests we found that Grok Imagine's image feature has some limitations regarding the generation of famous photos. We were unable to test whether the tool's spicy mode derails the images of real women uploaded as reference material.
Imagination is available to SuperGrok and Premium Plus X subscribers via Grok's iOS app. The tool has also started to be deployed in early access to Grok's Android app, but users are now reporting that it is limited to image creation and does not have video generation capabilities.
