He pointed out that artificial intelligence is not only being used to digitize and preserve centuries-old manuscripts and scriptures.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the world witnessed India’s “amazing capabilities” in artificial intelligence at the recently concluded India Impact Global AI Summit held at Bharat Mandapam in the capital.
Addressing the nation on episode 131 of his radio show Mann Ki Baat, Modi said the summit marked a turning point in the way the world uses AI in the future. The event brought together leaders from several countries, industry experts, innovators and representatives of start-ups.
“This summit marks a turning point in how the world harnesses the power of AI in the future,” he said, adding that he had the opportunity to meet with world leaders and CEOs of major technology companies.
The Prime Minister highlighted the key innovations on display at the summit and said two exhibits in particular had attracted strong international interest. The first was the Amul booth, which demonstrated how AI is being used in livestock management. “It was explained how AI is helping in animal treatment and how farmers are tracking dairy operations and livestock with the help of 24/7 AI assistants,” he said.
The second innovation focused on preserving India’s cultural heritage. “Leaders around the world were amazed to see how our ancient scriptures, traditional wisdom and manuscripts are being preserved and adapted for today’s generation with the help of AI,” Modi said.
He explained the process, referring to the indications from the ancient medical text Sushruta Samhita. “In the first step, we showed how the image quality of the manuscript can be improved and made readable with the help of technology. In the second step, we converted this text image into a machine-readable format. Then, an AI avatar was created and the text was translated into Indian and foreign languages.”
“World leaders have shown great interest in learning the ancient knowledge of Bharat through this modern avatar,” he added.

Three Indian-made AI models were announced during the summit: Sarvam AI’s large-scale language model, Gnani.ai’s Vachana text-to-speech model, and BharatGen’s Param2 17B multilingual foundational model.
The AI Impact Summit 2026, held in New Delhi from February 16 to 20, concluded with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact. The Declaration is supported by 88 countries and international organizations and calls for increased global cooperation and responsible use of AI for economic growth and social benefit.
The declaration emphasizes that the benefits of artificial intelligence must be shared equitably, while respecting national sovereignty, based on the principle of “sarvajan hitaya, sarvajan sukaya” (welfare for all, happiness for all).
