While there is some truth to this concern, it is important to note that human assistance is always required to guide AI tools. Interestingly, some authors are already leveraging AI tools to improve their writing without intending to plagiarize. However, it’s worth mentioning that some of these writers lost their jobs after being discovered by their employers using his AI tools in the content creation process.
Tina Sendin, who works in marketing and does freelance writing on the side, shared with Business Insider how she used AI to assist her workload. She had taken on her 3-month project from her long-term client, which involved writing numerous how-to guides and articles for her. Unable to handle the workload alone, she turned to her AI as a solution.
She used a tool called Jasper.ai to generate up to 20 articles each month. Jasper.ai has pre-built templates and a variety of features that helped me overcome writer’s hurdles and produce long-form articles quickly. She had her AI tool write most of the content, and she intended to do only minimal editing herself.
However, her client eventually discovered that the articles were AI-generated when using an AI content detector. As a result, they terminated her contract and paid her a reduced amount less than her original fee.
This incident made her realize that AI should be seen as a tool, not a substitute for human effort. She should have told her clients about using AI from the beginning, she admitted.
Having learned from this experience, she now approaches AI differently in her work. When engaging new clients, she discusses her use of AI writing tools and respects client preferences. Instead of relying entirely on AI, she uses it to enhance her drafts. After drafting her article, she leverages her AI tools to improve and maintain the client’s desired tone of voice.
She also finds AI useful for generating ideas about sources, statistics, and summarizing large amounts of text. However, she treats the output of her AI as suggestions and always fact-checks information. This woman says that her writing time has been significantly reduced thanks to her AI, allowing her to take on more challenges. Additionally, she believes clear and specific prompts lead to better output for her AI.
Although AI initially caused me concerns and even lost customers, I now see it as a valuable tool that can improve my writing and save time. She emphasizes the importance of understanding AI and using it intentionally. The woman acknowledges that AI is still in its early stages, but she believes early adopters of new technology often benefit. She plans to continue learning and adapting her AI to enhance her workflow and optimize her work.
