After sharing many messages, the scammers explained that they needed money to buy a house together. Abigail sent at least $81,304 via gift cards, cash and Bitcoin.
“Now she's in full debt and now she'll have to file for bankruptcy,” Luvalkaba said.
However, things got worse and worse when the scammer convinced Abigail to sell a condo in Harbor City for $350,000.
“If selling that place gives us a fresh start and brings us both closer to where we want, then I'll be behind you,” they said.
Ruvalcaba intervened, preventing her mother from sending another $70,000 to the con artist.

The video is thought to have been made with AI (ABC News).
Speaking about the scam, Steve Burton said he had heard similar stories.
“It's hundreds of knowing who lost the money. It's hundreds,” he said.
“First of all, I don't need your money, I never ask for money.
“I see people coming to my appearance and having a relationship online for a few years. I think, 'No, sorry, I don't know who you are.'
Abigail and Ruvalcaba have now launched a lawsuit seeking to reverse home sales. GoFundMe is set up to assist with legal costs that can be found here.
