With so many AI chatbots emerging over the past few years, we wanted to find out what our readers are using and why. Our latest survey included many of the most popular and accessible options, and the final results were pretty surprising.
Based on over 1,600 responses, Microsoft’s Copilot is the top chatbot of choice with 61% of votes. Google’s Gemini took second place with 17% of the votes, followed by ChatGPT in third place with just 8%, followed by other companies.
what has to be said
One commenter, Agonist87, explains why he prefers Copilot because it doesn’t cause as much hallucinations and gaslighting as other AI chatbots.
”Copilot is integrated into Office and doesn’t seem like an afterthought. Sure, you can cause problems, but you won’t argue with me or give me illusory answers like some people I know…” they explain.
Another commenter, James Lawson, agreed that the co-pilot was impressive, writing:It’s very human-like, especially in voice mode, and it’s great for research.“Nevertheless, ChatGPT remains their daily driver, while Gemini “It’s a shame.“Go on Lawson, Gemini.”I’m good at producing realistic-looking images, but I don’t think anyone in TF does that all day long, haha. Other than that, it’s pretty poor and feels like a glorified Google search.”
Several of our readers use multiple chatbots for various reasons, and some of them (for better or worse) emphasize the need for Copilot in their work. A comment from reader Vince Lupe is one example.
”Here’s my trio (yes, a trio): Google Gemini for marketing and sales strategy/execution, Perplexity Pro for research and using AI agents, and Replit Agent for software creation.“\
Another commenter, Randal Ueno, is another example of someone who uses multiple chatbots depending on the situation.
”I use Gemini for most personal things. I use Claude for work. I have a lot of analysis and spreadsheets and Claude does it perfectly. I was very impressed. ” They continued, “I don’t really use ChatGPT because it always gives me a ‘yes’ answer. It annoys me and I don’t really trust the response. I have a co-pilot working, but it’s terrible. I can’t do much of any value.”
While some people seem to agree that ChatGPT is too comfortable, Copilot has positive and mixed reviews, and some find it useful on platforms like Xbox. That said, while you may have a favorite chatbot, it’s becoming clear that more consumers are choosing more than one to get things going.
