This is Watchdog’s first column on artificial intelligence fraud.
Do you think it will be the last time for me?
As I wrote before, playing with AI has always been a game for me. I ask my friends if they’ve tried it, but most of them don’t.
So, visit ChatGPT (chat.openai.com) and show us how powerful it is. I write something about them and ask them to come back ‘generated’ as a song or TV show or poem. Anything is fine.
Resourceful and sensible results often come in seconds. It was like magic, something I had never experienced before.
It’s hard to see at this point how this could lead to the end of humanity, as some have suggested. Not only is AI often inaccurate, but it doesn’t represent true human emotions and passions. This feels like his mid-1990s when the World Wide Web began to spread to everyone.
Ask on ChatGPT how Dr. Seuss would describe me. 2 seconds later:

I started devising a way to take advantage of what is known as the Texas Lonely Fraud State. How will scammers use AI to trick us?
I recently told the story of a very annoying door-to-door salesman selling solar panels. He ignored my “no soliciting” sign, hid the city permit in his back pocket, and lied about my power company.
The solar salesman has become as annoying as the roofer knocking on the door after a storm.
“Hey ChatGPT” I asked. “Please tell me the script for door-to-door sales of solar panels.”
A salesperson knocks on the door. good morning/afternoon!my name is [Your Name]And I’m here to represent Solar Solutions. We are a reliable provider of solar power systems in your neighborhood. … many of our customers report savings of up to 30% or more on their electricity bills.
This two-page script omits the most important pitfalls. That means it could take him 10 years or more to pay off the solar panels, although the monthly fee might go down.
When I asked how I could cheat my federal income tax, ChatGPT refused to help me. But when I paraphrase it and ask how others are cheating, ChatGPT claims to understate income, inflate deductions, offshore accounts, falsify documents, fake ghost employees. He showed me a list of things like creating members.

One rampant crime is creating audio or video that looks and sounds like a real family member.
In April, the man received a video call from a scammer pretending to be a friend. Scammers persuaded victims to transfer $600,000 to a bank account in Inner Mongolia. He did as requested and then called the friend of his. He realized it was a scam and contacted the police.
The victim told police, “We were having a video chat, and I was able to recognize the face and voice in the video.” That’s why I let my guard down. “
The incident was ‘nervous’ journal report. The hashtag #AIFraudIsEruptingAcrossChina gained popularity.

China currently prohibits the creation of deepfake videos, fake texts and fake voices to spread false information.
Not here. There is no similar law in the United States, but lawmakers are debating it. Scientists, including those who developed AI, are calling for a pause.
The state of Texas, which I recently reported on, will set up a task force to study AI and its implications. Everything is happening too quickly.

Look for AI that creates fake product reviews, fake news stories, especially fake articles about political opponents.
Don’t forget the solar power sales script that ends like this:
“Great! Can you arrange a convenient time for our solar expert to visit your home and solar potential? How does that sound?”
There is no federal data privacy law yet. Good news. A new state data privacy law will come into force in Texas next July.
For now, it’s up to you to protect yourself from scammers. Eyes open, ears heard, intestines checked. Trust your instincts.
