Artificial intelligence could influence your next job interview.

The future of hiring is moving into the hands of AI, and more companies are relying on AI-based application screening software to screen applications.

Such interviews, where job seekers chat with artificially intelligent interviewers, have existed in recent years but have not become mainstream.

Job seekers are asked questions. Questions can be submitted by text or video. AI considers factors such as language ability to recommend good candidates.

According to new research by ResumeBuilder.com, 4 in 10 companies plan to use AI interviews for hiring new employees by 2024.

ResumeBuilder surveyed over 1,000 employees involved in the company’s hiring process.

Stacie Haller is ResumeBuilder’s Chief Career Advisor.

“What’s interesting about this is that 78% of our hiring managers are under the age of 44 and they said,” says Haller. “It’s clear that the younger generation of managers are jumping on technology and applying it to the interview process.”

Two-thirds of those surveyed believe AI interviewing will improve hiring efficiency. More than half believe they will eventually be replaced by human recruiters.

“If you don’t speed up the hiring process, you’ll lose good candidates along the way,” Haller said.

But this is nothing new.

“For 20 years, we’ve been letting companies apply predictive scores to how well they match a particular job opening.”

Kathy Robinson is President and CEO of CXO Directions, a company that helps people build their professional identities.

She says AI is simply speeding up the hiring process.

“[AI] It processes a lot of information and looks for matches. This allows the hiring process to be reflected sooner, giving employers a more accurate picture of who they want to bring to the interview. “

Of those respondents who say their company will use AI interviews in the future, 15% plan to let AI determine candidates without any human input.

The remaining 85% say the software provides recommendations about candidates, but the final decision is still made by humans.

One of the main concerns about AI is bias.

Most companies incorporate anti-bias detection models.

“If not done carefully and thoughtfully, the people who are developing the models and constructing the questions that the AI ​​tries to answer can actually do significant harm,” Robinson said.

“We are all aware that these new technologies may contain biases. Either work to mitigate them or recognize them and think about how we can improve. We need to,” Haller said.
