Warner Bros Discovery is suing AI image generator company Midjourney for copyright infringement in federal court in California. The studio accuss Midjourney of building business with mass content theft and using copyrighted characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Bugs Bunny, Rick and Morty. Warner Bros Discovery joined Disney and Universal and filed a similar lawsuit earlier this year. The complaints have been compared side-by-side with mid-journey outputs such as Christian Bale's Batman from The Dark Knight with original film images. According to Warner Bros. Discovery, AI tools generate Warner-owned characters for general prompts like “Classic Comic Superhero Battle.” Midjourney offers four paid subscription tiers ranging from $10 to $120 per month. The company has not commented on the allegations. Warner Bros Discovery seeks damages of up to $150,000 for each compromised job.
